About the project
Extension with a new hall for The International People's College
The architectural firm Urban Power has designed the new extension to the original school building, which was originally designed by architect Steen Eiler Rasmussen.
The extension includes a UN hall, a banquet hall that can also function as a foyer for the UN hall, two large new classrooms, a music room, and a lounge area for the school's many users.
The existing buildings are connected to the new facilities through an intermediate building mainly made of steel and glass.
Wood and aluminum in beautiful harmony
The project has used pine wood as the main material for both the facade and the interior cladding. This includes columns, beams, and slats, all of which have been added with inspiration from the existing buildings and spaces at the college.
Focus on sustainable solutions in terms of construction materials, energy consumption, operation, maintenance, and optimized utilization of square meters.
In the early stages of the project, sustainability was prioritized as a central value. Therefore, particular attention has been given to sun shading and light regulation to avoid overheating and reduce energy consumption. In addition, rainwater collection has been integrated into the project.
From the UN hall, there is a panoramic view of the beautiful surrounding nature in 360 degrees.
The facades are HansenFasad with automatic sun shading.
