About the project

A striking renovation project in Copenhagen, where Hansen has supplied bespoke window sections and terrace doors for the historic industrial building at Vermundsgade 40. The project is a great example of Hansen’s expertise in tailored solutions, combining modern functionality with respect for historical architecture.

Originally built in 1952, the former industrial building is now home to a wide range of creative businesses.

In close collaboration with the developer Velliv, DEAS, and Holscher Nordberg Architects — one of the building’s own tenants — Hansen has developed, delivered, and installed customised elements using the HansenMillennium® system.

The solution was carefully adapted to the building’s distinctive façade and includes a specially developed coupling profile, ensuring that the new windows integrate naturally into the original architectural expression.

The combination of inward-opening tilt-and-turn windows and outward-opening motorised windows in the Millennium system provides both natural ventilation and manually operated openings.

The slim aluminium profiles continue the building’s industrial aesthetic, originally characterised by cast iron windows — now delivered with modern insulation performance, comfort, and daylight access.

This project highlights Hansen’s ability to deliver holistic architectural window solutions for complex renovation tasks, where aesthetics and technical requirements go hand in hand.
